Whistler has been the number 1 rated
ski resort in North America for the last 8 years in
a row and it will host the 2010 Winter Olympics!
The twin peaks of Whistler & Blackcomb
are huge, but the experience keeps getting bigger
& better. By next season it will have the record
breaking Peak-to-Peak Gondola, boasting the world’s
longest free span and highest vertical point.
It is North America’s biggest area
(8171 acres of piste) and also has the continents
highest vertical drop (1609m). The runs are wonderful
whether you are a beginner, intermediate, advanced
or expert, and there is endless back-country and heliskiing.
The lifts have a capacity of nearly 60,000 skiers
per hour. If you want a rest from the skiing there
are 18 different restaurants on the mountain.
Average snowfall is over 30 feet or
9 metres per year, and the season lasts all the way
from November through to August.
